New Lawns in a Fast-Growing Lake Town
Hydroseeding in St. Cloud keeps busy with new construction. The city had 58,964 residents at the 2020 census and an estimated 74,960 by 2025, and that growth shows up as new subdivisions across the city south of East Lake Tohopekaliga. Builders and new homeowners alike need bare lots turned into lawns, and spraying seed and mulch covers large lots far faster than most other planting methods.
Protecting a clear lake
East Lake Toho is unusually clear, with visibility down 7 to 9 feet, and covers about 12,000 acres. Keeping it that way means keeping sand and fertilizer out of it. We install silt fence before grading on larger jobs, protect storm inlets, and cover graded ground with seed and mulch in the same visit.
Drained land with a long history
In the 1880s Hamilton Disston dug canals here and planted the St. Cloud sugarcane plantation. The 1894 to 1895 freeze ruined it, a rice attempt failed, and in 1909 the land was chosen for a Union veterans' colony partly for the "productiveness of soil." Canal-drained land like that is often flat, so fine grading matters more than people expect.
Builder and commercial seeding
For builders we seed lots right after final grade, cover phase lines and common areas, and stabilize pond banks. Hydroseed keeps dust down on occupied streets and gives inspectors visible cover. When the grass is in, we pull silt fence so homeowners are not left with it.
New owners, new lawns
Many St. Cloud buyers move into homes with a thin builder lawn or none at all. We fix low spots, add topsoil where the sand is too lean and hydroseed the whole yard or just the bare sections. A good first watering schedule matters more than anything else in the first month.

St. Cloud Questions
My builder left a thin lawn. Can you hydroseed over it?
Yes. We fix bare and low spots, add topsoil where needed and seed the thin areas or the whole yard.
How long until a new St. Cloud lawn can be mowed?
Usually a few weeks in warm weather with steady watering. We give you a watering and first-mow schedule with every job.
Do you handle silt fence for whole subdivision phases?
Yes. We install it at the start, maintain it during construction and remove it once lots are stabilized.
Why is grading such a big deal on my flat lot?
Disston drained land around St. Cloud with canals in the 1880s, and much of it is flat. A small grade change decides whether water drains or sits on new grass.
