Seeding at the Top of the Everglades Watershed
Hydroseeding in Kissimmee happens upstream of a lot of Florida. The city sits on the northwest shore of Lake Tohopekaliga, is drained by the Kissimmee River, and has Shingle Creek running through it, a stream often called the headwaters of the Everglades. Sand that leaves a bare yard here can end up in Lake Toho, which is why we cover graded ground the same day.
A town built on drainage
Kissimmee grew in the 1880s as the base for Hamilton Disston's effort to drain about four million acres of South Florida. Steamboats and dredges ran from here. Much of the low land around town was reshaped by ditches and canals, and many lots still drain to them. Before we seed, we look at where your yard sends water and keep that path open.
Ranch land to rooftops
After the citrus freezes of 1894 and 1895, Kissimmee depended on open-range cattle ranching. That lasted until Walt Disney World opened nearby in 1971 and tourism and development took over. Former pasture often has thin, compacted topsoil. We loosen it and add topsoil where the sand is too lean to keep new grass alive.
After the storms
In August 2004 Hurricane Charley crossed Kissimmee with winds over 100 miles per hour, and Frances and Jeanne followed within weeks. Storms like that leave uprooted trees, rutted yards and bare patches where debris sat for weeks. Lawn repair after a hurricane usually means grading ruts, filling stump holes, then overseeding or reseeding the bare ground.
Rentals and commercial lots
Kissimmee's city limits are only part of the picture: much of the US 192 corridor west to Highway 27 is unincorporated Osceola County that still goes by Kissimmee. Owners of rental homes and commercial lots along it often need a quick, clean lawn before a season or a sale. Hydroseed fills large areas fast and costs less than wall-to-wall sod.

Kissimmee Questions
Can you fix a yard torn up by hurricane cleanup?
Yes. We grade out ruts, fill stump holes with topsoil and reseed. Where most of the turf survived, overseeding is enough.
My Kissimmee lot drains to a canal. Does a lawn job here need silt fence?
For a small residential lawn it is often not required, but a short run along the low side is cheap protection for the water.
Is hydroseed a good choice for a vacation rental yard?
It covers large areas quickly for less than sod. It does need a few weeks of watering, so time it between bookings if you can.
Our soil is hard, old pasture ground. Will seed take?
Not well without prep. We loosen the surface and add topsoil so roots can get down into the sand.
