Seed and Mulch for Florida Sand and Summer Storms

Elite Hydroseeding Orlando sprays seed, wood fiber mulch, fertilizer and tackifier onto bare ground for homeowners, builders and site managers across the Orlando area. We also do the work around the seed: fine grading and topsoil, erosion control blankets on pond banks and slopes, silt fence and inlet protection on job sites, and repair of lawns that storms, drought or insects have thinned out.

The ground here sets the rules. Most of the Orlando area is flat, low and wet, dotted with hundreds of lakes. Florida's state soil, Myakka, is a flatwoods sand that starts with a dark gray top few inches over gray sand, holds little organic matter, and can carry a water table within 10 inches of the surface for part of the year. Rain comes in two speeds: a dry stretch from November into spring, and a wet season when afternoon storms can drop several inches in an hour. We plan every job around those facts, not around a seeding calendar written for somewhere else.

We also tell people what hydroseed cannot do. St. Augustinegrass, the most common lawn grass in Florida, is planted only as sod, plugs or sprigs. If that is the lawn you want, we will say so before you spend money on seed.

How we work

  • We walk the property first and look at drainage, sun, access and the soil under the surface
  • We recommend a grass that can actually be seeded here and suits how the yard is used
  • Quotes separate prep, seed, mulch, blankets and silt fence so each choice is clear
  • Low spots get graded so water moves before anything is sprayed
  • On permitted sites, we work from your stormwater plan and the inspector's expectations
  • On spray day we leave a printed sheet covering how to water the new seed and when to mow it the first time
